MAS KIDS 13 - UP YEARS OLDS

The MAS-Juniors program has been specifically crafted to address the unique needs of individuals aged 13 and above, acknowledging the common challenges they face in the United States and around the world. By approaching these issues constructively, MAS-Juniors provides a distinctive and effective approach to fostering positive development among teenagers. Here are some prevalent problems that the program can help tackle:

01. Academic Stress

With escalating academic pressure, teenagers often grapple with high levels of stress related to school performance. MAS-Juniors offers a positive outlet for stress, providing physical activities and stress management strategies that can benefit academic performance.

02. Mental Health Challenges

Adolescence can be a challenging period for mental health, with many teenagers dealing with anxiety, depression, and other emotional issues. MAS-Juniors promotes an environment of emotional support, encouraging mental well-being through physical activities and concentration techniques.

03. Lack of Physical Activity

Sedentary lifestyles are a growing concern among teenagers, with many spending extended hours in sedentary activities. MAS-Juniors encourages regular physical activity, promoting not only physical fitness but also healthy habits that will endure into adulthood.

04. Social and Relationship Challenges

Social dynamics can be complex during adolescence, with many teenagers facing relationship and social integration challenges. MAS-Juniors offers an inclusive environment where participants can develop social skills, teamwork, and build meaningful friendships.

05. Self-Esteem and Confidence

Building self-esteem and confidence is crucial during adolescence. The MAS-Juniors program focuses on strengthening positive self-image, providing teenagers with the confidence needed to face the challenges of adolescence and adulthood.

06. Time Management and Balance

With the overload of responsibilities, many teenagers struggle to efficiently manage time and maintain a healthy balance between school, extracurricular activities, and personal life. MAS-Juniors promotes time management and balance skills, helping teenagers successfully navigate their various responsibilities.

By recognizing and addressing these challenges with a positive and proactive approach, MAS-Juniors aims to empower teenagers, promoting not only self-defense skills but also essential life skills for a successful transition into adulthood.

WHAT IS A GOOD AGE TO START MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING?

We believe that martial arts training has benefits for every age! In our MAS-DRAGONS program (ages 3-6), we focus on developing listening skills and appropriate classroom behavior in a fun and playful way. For our MAS-JUNIORS (ages 7-12) the martial arts training offers a great learning atmosphere. Beyond practicing self-defense techniques, skills against bullying and maintaining or improving physical fitness, our students develop discipline, respect, self-esteem, goal setting skills, and confidence. For teens and adults (ages 13+), martial arts training is a great way to improve fitness and flexibility, to learn self-defense skills, grow confidence, develop discipline, and release stress. There’s no such thing as the perfect age to get started. Our MAS family is always open for new members of all ages. We’re sure to find the right program for you!

CAN BOYS AND GIRLS BE IN THE SAME CLASS?

Yes, absolutely! All of our classes are co-educational. We have a good mix of both girls and boys in our martial arts programs and teach our students from the beginning to respect each other, no matter which gender you are.

CAN I TAKE MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES IF I’M NOT IN GOOD SHAPE, NOT VERY ATHLETIC, OR IF I DON’T HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE?

Absolutely! Don’t be afraid, everyone has to start somewhere! Martial arts is a great way to improve your health and overall physical fitness, no matter what the starting point is. Our programs allow students to go step by step, level by level, at their own pace. Our programs are ideal for people of all ages and skill levels as well as those who want to improve their physical shape.

WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE DO THE INSTRUCTORS HAVE?

All our instructors have more than 10 years of martial arts experience! Good instructors are our number one priority. Many martial arts schools allow their new instructors to teach classes directly. At our academies, we believe that all classes deserve the best instruction so we make sure that all the instructors are 110% ready to lead a class. Furthermore, our academies offer internship training for students who desire to become instructors. We want to give our Junior Instructors the necessary experience, so they are allowed to assist in classes with the supervision of a higher level teacher and learn step by step to become the best instructor possible. Our martial art schools stand for a good education with professional instructors!

HOW DO I KNOW THAT MY CHILD WILL STAY INTERESTED?

We have designed our programs to continually reward and motivate students. Students are given numerous incentives in the classroom: the possibility to earn achievement stripes for exceptional effort and the 6 colored stripes at each belt for skill attainment. With each stripe and each new belt, students are able to set and achieve new goals. Our curriculum was carefully designed to give students fresh material and challenging skills to learn at each belt level that will excite and motivate them at every step. Finally, we participate in both intramural and local tournaments; a great way for students to improve their skills and build self-esteem.
